POLTERGEIST!
In this iconic Steven Spielberg production, director Tobe Hooper ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre") weaves a haunting tale revolving around a suburban family as they stick together after youngest family member, Carol Anne, is kidnapped by a malevolent force and held captive within a supernatural dimension inside the house. "Poltergeist" boasts outstanding special effects to be sure but it's the human component (most notably Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams as Steve and Diane Freeling) that truly takes this epic haunt to soaring heights.
"Poltergeist" is the perfect film to cap off HorrorFest preview night and to lead adventurous attendees into the 4 days of genre greatness that will follow.
