Focus on the fUTure Film Festival Presented by The Utah Film Commission (+ Filmmaker Social)

On Saturday, December 14th, 2024, The Utah Film Commission and the Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah cordially invite you to experience the gift of filmmaking by way of two FREE screening events and an epic Utah Filmmaker Networking Social at The Electric Theater in St. George. It’s all in honor of the 100 Year Celebration of Utah Film and Television.

3 PM– “Focus on the fUTure Film Festival” Presented by The Utah Film Commission

2024 is a year of grand milestones for the film industry here in the Beehive state. Not only are we celebrating 100 Years of Utah Film and Television, but the Utah Film Commission is celebrating its 50th anniversary. In honor of this accomplishment, Team UFC has put together a festival comprised of short films from all across the state.  The “Focus on the fUTure Film Festival” presented by the Utah Film Commission was created to highlight the talent of the next generation of Utah filmmakers and at this particular event, attendees will have an opportunity to experience short films made by Southern Utah University and Utah Tech University film program undergrads as well as recent graduates, 18-25 years of age. These screenings will include filmmaker Q&As. Jury prizes will be presented to the strongest films in the mix. Come on out and lend your support to the Utah-based filmmakers of the future.

5 PM– Utah Filmmaker Networking Social

Cap off an amazing day at the movies by mingling with some of Utah’s most gifted storytellers at a very special Utah Filmmaker Networking Social. Enjoy finger foods, hot cocoa, and endless conversations with your fellow filmmakers as we all look towards a bright future. If you’re in the Utah film industry or looking to be, you won’t want to miss it! Special note; Santa will also be on hand for photo ops. (This Social will take place at the Arrowhead Gallery right next door to The Electric Theater.)

*Special Sidenote; Before the “Focus on the fUTure Film Festival” presented by the Utah Film Commission at 3 PM, please join us for the "The 2024 Christmas Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase" presented by The Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah.”  These Christmas-themed short films were put together by Utah-based filmmakers of all ages and all skill sets in a limited amount of time using any resources available to them.
