The Electric Film Series returns to the Electric Theater on Tuesday, December 19th at 6 PM (Doors at 5:30 PM) with a screening of one of the greatest sequels ever made!

The fact that “Top Gun” finally got a sequel isn’t entirely surprising but the fact that it took over three decades to finally happen is a bit of a shock. Particularly given that the original film catapulted star, Tom Cruise, to superstar status. In the end, the wait was worth it because simply put, “Top Gun: Maverick” is one of the strongest sequels ever made. This years-in-the-making follow up catches up with a considerably older and mostly wiser Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he finds himself training a young team of hotshot pilots in an effort to prepare them for a most deadly mission. Among those pilots is Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller),  the son of Maverick’s late flying partner, Goose. This movie is a bonafide adrenalin-pumper and after watching it, it’s easy to see why it emerged as the biggest hit of Tom Cruise’s lengthy (and reputable) career. Experience this undeniably thrilling film the way it was meant to be experienced; On the big screen! Per usual, we at The Electric Film Series aren’t just about the movies themselves. We’re also all about film history and context and as such, with each of these screenings we have a very special guest on hand to introduce the title of the evening and to lead a post-screening discussion. Our special guest this month is gifted actor, Mark Bracich, a wonderful storyteller with plenty of insight on films like “Top Gun.” No surprise at all given the fact that he’s been an Air Force veteran for several years. Yes…To say that Mr. Bracich is the perfect guest for this screening would be a gross understatement.

Be sure to arrive at the “Top Gun: Maverick” screening a little early and order an optional menu item from Riggatti’s to enjoy during the post-screening discussion or, you can feel free to take it home with you following the movie. On a final note, this is our final Electric Film Series screening of the 2023 season and with this particular title, we’re looking to go out with a bang. It should also be noted that those on hand for “Top Gun: Maverick” will also be treated to a rousing trailer for the 2024 Electric Film Series season.
