This November, The Electric Films Series invites you to marvel at the brilliance of Anthony Hopkins.
In The Father, a man (played by Hopkins) showing signs of dementia refuses the assistance of his devoted but increasingly exhausted daughter (played by Olivia Coleman.) As he struggles to understand what's happening, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind, and even the fabric of his reality.
Few films in recent memory have so skillfully managed to put the audience member in the headspace of someone suffering with dementia. Kudos to writer/director Florian Zeller (who also wrote the play on which this film is based) for his deft and authentic touch.
