• Registration/Submission Fee Portal opens on Friday, August 30th at 7 PM (MST) at fmasu.com.
• The submission fee is $40 if you pay by 11:59 PM (MST) on Sunday, September 2nd.
• The submission fee is $50 if you sign up after 11:59 PM (MST) on Sunday, September 2nd.
• Additionally, if you register and pay your fee by 11:59 PM (MST) on Sunday, September 2nd, you'll receive an extra 60 seconds toward your short film running time. Translation; 6 minutes instead of 5 minutes.
• Submission Deadline is Tuesday, October 1st at 11:59 PM (MST.)
• Only 25 slots are available so be sure to sign up right when the Registration/Submission fee portal goes live on August 30th.
• Each paid submission comes with 1 free admittance into the Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase as well as one 4-day screening pass to the HorrorFest International Film Festival on the following week. This is an amazing opportunity and deal!
• The 2024 Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase screening event will take place at the Electric Theater on Saturday, October 12th.

The 2024 Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge is upon us! While this incredibly popular Edition of the Challenge tends to be a little edgier (and scarier) than the others, it is still open to filmmakers of all ages and skill sets in the state of Utah. Whether you’ve made a film before or not, this is a terrific outlet for storytellers.

On Friday, August 30th at 7 PM (MST), the link for registration will open. Once you register and pay the submission fee, we’ll email you the rules and regulations along with the topic to build your film around. Filmmaking teams will have just over a month to put together a 5-minute short film utilizing the given topic and any resources available to them.

Those who register and pay the submission fee by 11:59 PM (MST) on Sunday, September 2nd will receive $10 off the regular $50 submission fee as well an extra 60 seconds towards their film running time.

The Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge has been going strong in Southern Utah since 2005. For veterans, it's a great way to keep the creative juices flowing and for novices, it's the perfect creative avenue to get your feet wet.

Again, the submission fee is only $50 per film ($10 off for those who sign up by Sunday, September 2nd at 11:59 PM MST.) This is extraordinarily inexpensive when stacked up against other filmmaking competitions of this nature from around the country. Putting it into perspective, if you have a team of 5 setting out to make a short film, that breaks down to only $10 per person. Even cheaper if you get that $10 off.

Sign up asap once the portal goes live as there will only be 25 slots available.

All short films created for the Challenge will be presented in a live theatrical setting on Saturday, October 12th at 7 PM at The Electric Theater.

Tickets for the 2024 Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase (screening event) will go on sale shortly after Challenge registration opens. Tickets will only be $10/Adult, $5/Child(11 & Under), and Group Passes(Max of 5) will be just $25.

There will be cash prizes awarded to the strongest guerilla shorts of the bunch and what's more, the 1st place winner will screen at the highly anticipated 2024 HorrorFest International Film Festival, running from Wednesday, October 16th thru Saturday, October 19th.

Each paid Guerilla submission will come with one free ticket to the Guerilla Showcase event as well as a 4-day screening pass to HorrorFest International (this pass is for screenings only.)
