About the Event
FMASU's Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge is about to embark on it's 21st year! What's the Challenge all about? At its heart its all about storytelling, problem solving, and the art of collaboration. For the 2026 New Year Edition of the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge, registrants will have a limited amount of time to create a 5 minute short film using any resources available to them. The process is pretty simple. After registration opens on January 30th, those who sign up will receive the criteria. Then...It's off to the filmmaking races!
Filmmaking teams will have until March 2nd to complete their projects. All completed Guerilla shorts will be showcased on the big screen at a very special Guerilla screening event on Saturday, March 14th at The Electric Theater in St. George, UT. Cash prizes and awards will be handed out to the best films of the bunch with the 1st place jury prize…

Early Bird Registration is now open for the 2026 New Year Edition of the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge! Since you registered during our Early Bird period, you’ll get an extra minute for your film’s runtime! This means you can now submit a movie up to 6 minutes long, plus you’ve saved $5 on your registration fee. Once you complete your registration, you’ll receive your challenge and guidelines. Then it’s time for you and your team to start creating your film!

Then it’s time for you and your team to start creating your film! Your film will need to remain in the 5-minute runtime and under.
