REGISTRATION | 2026 Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2026 HALLOWEEN EDITION OF THE GUERILLA FILMMAKING CHALLENGE!

This is how our ghoulish quick turnaround filmmaking platform will go down; On Wednesday, September 2nd, registration will open at 7 PM (MST) at FMASU.com. Once you pay your $50 registration fee ($45 for those who register by the end of the first weekend), you’ll receive a topic, a list of props to choose from, and a handful of rules and guidelines. Then, it’s off to the filmmaking races. 

You’ll have just over a month to put your own team together and create a short film, 5 minutes or less (6 minutes for those who register within the first 5 days), using the provided criteria and any resources available to you. What will the topic be? You'll find out right after registering!

It should also be noted that there will only be 25 signup slots available and given the increasing popularity of the Guerilla Challenge through the years, it’s safe to say that those slots are going to fill up fast. Translation; You’d be well advised to register for the Challenge during the first weekend!

Beyond that, we will, once again, be hosting our traditional screening event. The Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase will take place at The Electric Theater at 6 PM on Saturday, October 17th. That’s right! Filmmakers will have the unique opportunity to experience their cinematic creations with a live audience. It should also be noted that there will be cash prizes and awards presented to the strongest films of the bunch. Additionally, each registration will come with one complimentary 4-day screening pass to the upcoming HorrorFest International Film Festival (running September 16th thru 19th) as well as one complimentary ticket to the October 17th Halloween Guerilla Showcase Screening event! That’s right…You'll get a lot of terrifying bang for your buck when you register for the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge!

As for this special, long-running creative outlet (this is our 21st year), not only does the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge offer an opportunity to build creative skills, experience the power of collaboration, and learn the art of problem solving, but it’s also the perfect creative platform to celebrate the joy that is Halloween. We hope to see the usual suspects and newcomers alike when registration opens on Wednesday, September 2nd!
