“Love and Monsters” (2020)

“Love and Monsters” follows a lovesick Joel (played by an affable Dylan O’Brien) as he emerges from his bunker and sets out on a quest to find his high school sweetheart (played by Jessica Henwick) following a monster apocalypse. Along the way, he crosses paths with an assortment of colorful characters including a grizzled survivalist (played by Michael Rooker) and a spunky, fiercely independent youngster (played by Ariana Greenblatt.) While there are plenty of creatures to be found in the aptly titled “Love and Monsters,” it should be noted that beyond all of the thrills and special effects, this is a film with a ton of heart.
