“Little Shop of Horrors” (1986)
--------------------------------------------
Frank Oz will long be remembered as one Jim Henson’s genius muppeteers, but he should also be remembered for his wonderful directing career thanks to the likes of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “What About Bob,” and the high energy, righteously entertaining musical, “Little Shop of Horrors.” Starring affable Rick Moranis as a flower shop employee and a sensational Ellen Greene as his lovely muse, this sci-fi/horror/musical gets a ton of mileage out of spectacular puppetry, lively song, and dance numbers, and a scene-stealing Steve Martin as the world’s most sadistic dentist. This movie is a joy from top to bottom and it is best enjoyed in a theatrical setting with an enthusiastic crowd. On a final note; Which version of this film can attendees expect to see? As was the case with “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” in June, you’ll just have to attend to find out!
FMASU’s screening of “Little Shop of Horrors” will include an intro and post-screening discussion led by gifted actor, storyteller, and magician, Trey Paterson. And Paterson won’t be alone. He’s bringing Audrey II with him! Another reason to attend!
Be sure to arrive at the screening a little early and leave an optional donation. This donation will get you a delicious menu item from Riggatti's to enjoy during the post-screening discussion or, you can feel free to take it home with you following the movie. Additionally, there will be photo ops and a handful of surprises at what is sure to be a magical evening at the movies. On a final note, don’t forget to spread the word by sharing this event!
