About the Event

The Electric Film Series returns to the Electric Theater on Tuesday, April 16th at 6 PM (Doors at 5:30 PM) with an 80th-anniversary screening of an underappreciated noir gem;

Laura” (1944) -------------------------------------------- A police detective (Dana Andrews) finds himself falling for the very woman (Gene Tierney) whose murder he is investigating after conducting interviews with the individuals she came into contact with. During the case, however, a strange set of circumstances forces him to re-evaluate his position. Andrews and Tierney are the focal point here but it’s Clifton Webb and Vincent Price who ultimately steal the show in a striking slice of noir that Roger Ebert fittingly suggests is a tribute to style over sanity.

Per usual, we at The Electric Film Series aren’t just about the movies themselves. We’re also all about film history and context and as such, with each of these screenings we have a very special guest on hand to introduce the title of the evening and to lead a post-screening discussion. For this trip back to the 40’s, we have a very special guest, indeed; Jason Jackson! Jackson is the co-founder of Red Carpet Cinema, a local organization that prides itself on delivering the best in classic movie entertainment on the big screen. And in fact, Red Carpet Cinema will be hosting GEMS (a two-day classic film lover’s dream) on April 19th and 20th. --- Tickets to GEMs HERE

Be sure to arrive at our “Laura” screening a little early and order an optional menu item from Riggatti’s to enjoy during the post-screening discussion or, you can feel free to take the pizza home with you following the movie.

We hope to see you all there!
