The legendary Billy Wilder (an iconic filmmaker who would go on to direct a handful of masterworks including “Sunset Boulevard” and “The Apartment”) was in his mid-30s when he set out to make his fourth feature film, “Double Indemnity,” an effort that is, to this very day, considered one of the great film noirs of all time. This tale of lust and greed features Fred MacMurray as insurance salesman Walter Neff and the legendary Barbara Stanwyck as Phyllis Dietrichson, the persuasive (and dissatisfied) housewife who looks to convince him to take part in a most diabolical fraud scheme.
