About the Event
40TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING OF "BETTER OFF DEAD" WITH STAR, DIANE FRANKLIN!
Recently, The Film and Media Alliance hosted a 40th anniversary screening of the 80s gem, "Better Off Dead." The event was so popular, that we've decided to host an encore screening of the film with an unforgettable added bonus; The movie's lovely co-star, Diane Franklin, will be on hand to introduce the film and take part in a post-screening conversation/Q&A that will be moderated by Natalie Lynch. This fantastic actress has a resume that includes the likes of "Waking Nightmare" and "Bad Advice" but it all started with memorable turns in "Better Off Dead," "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," and the underappreciated 80s emotional sucker punch to the gut that was "The Last American Virgin." It's safe to say that Franklin will have plenty of wonderful stories to share from her decades-long career in the business.
As for the few of you who haven't had the good fortune to experience the slice of 80s hilarity that is "Better Off Dead," it features John Cusack as Lane Meyer, a recently dumped high school student who finds his life seemingly unraveling around him. When he's not dealing with teen angst, an endlessly quirky family, and the world's most persistent delivery boy, he finds himself bonding with Monique Junot (played by Diane Franklin), a lovely foreign exchange student dealing with issues of her own. As directed by the underappreciated Savage Steve Holland, this is one of those must watch 80s films that has stood the test of time in a big way. Come and experience "Better Off Dead" the way it was meant to be experienced; On the big screen with a packed house!
*Diane Franklin will be on hand for book signings at 6 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd. Doors for the screening will open at 6:30 PM with the movie starting at 7 PM
*This is a free screening but donations are greatly appreciated as they will go a long to help cover the cost of this not-to-be-missed event!
