The Electric Film Series continues at the Electric Theater on Tuesday, May 17th, at 6 PM (Doors at 5:30 PM) with a screening of a 50s offering from the legendary Akira Kurosawa;
“The Hidden Fortress” (1958)
--------------------------------------------
This iconic Japanese import from the great Akira Kurosawa finds a pair of greedy peasants being tricked into escorting a princess and a general across enemy lines during a war in a film that is as adventurous as it is beautiful. For all its accolades, it should also be noted that “The Hidden Fortress” is the film that inspired, among other things, a little movie called “Star Wars.” Don’t let a few subtitles scare you away from seeing this masterpiece on the big screen!
FMASU’s screening of “The Hidden Fortress” will include an intro and post-screening discussion led by film theory/history/criticism professor, Nate Snow. As it happens, Snow is also a massive fan of all things Kurosawa so attendees can expect a lot of wonderful insight in regard to this epic motion picture experience.
Be sure to arrive at the screening a little early and leave an optional donation. This donation will get you a delicious menu item from Riggatti's to enjoy during the post-screening discussion or, you can feel free to take it home with you following the movie. Additionally, there will be photo ops and a handful of surprises at what is sure to be an unforgettable evening at the movies. Be sure to spread the word by sharing this event page.
