Noirvember: Dark Cinema of Shadows

CANCELED

Directed by the legendary Fritz Lang (METROPOLIS and M), the brilliant slice of film noir that is THE BIG HEAT centers around a by-the-book cop who takes on a vicious gang he believes has control over the police force. In order to get to the truth, he'll have to resort to the most desperate of measures. It's a film Roger Ebert calls; "Unbending, courageous, fearless."

This FREE screening will include an intro by local actor, magician, and film historian, Trey Paterson. This wonderful old soul will also be on hand for a post-screening discussion.

Be sure to arrive at the screening a few minutes early because optional Riggatti's menu items will be available to purchase to enjoy during the post-screening discussion but these items must be purchased before the screening.

It should also be noted that in the lobby before the movie begins, we'll be offering FREE books on filmmaking as well as rare films on VHS so come on in and take advantage of these wonderful contributions from generous film-loving donors.

Come on out to our FREE Monthly Film Series and be a part of the magic that is the theatrical experience!

a THANKFUL bONUS FILM

HAPPY tHANKSGIVING!

Due to a recent 2-week statewide events closure, FMASU was forced to cancel a much-anticipated FREE screening of THE BIG HEAT. While that was a major disappointment for our programming team, we are excited to look towards our next FREE screening and as fate would have it, we had just secretly programmed a special surprise bonus movie for Tuesday.

Featuring the dynamic pairing of comical heavyweights Steve Martin and John Candy, this righteously hilarious and undeniably heartwarming road movie tells the story of uptight businessman Neal Page (Martin) and his crusade to get home in time for Thanksgiving during one heck of a storm. In order to reach his destination, he reluctantly teams with sweet-natured but often bumbling salesman Del Griffith (Candy). PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES takes the term "comedy of errors" to new heights in a Thanksgiving-centric cinematic staple  that Cinemast.net suggests "is truly required viewing because, for all the laughs, this is really a movie that represents the very best of humanity and we can certainly use that message more now than ever."

It should be noted that PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES is rated R mostly due to a sequence that features what is perhaps the funniest use of the "F" word ever committed to film. Beyond that, this is mostly a PG-13 rated affair.

This FREE screening will feature an intro by FMASU co-founder and avid filmgoer Adam Mast. Mast will also be on hand to lead an insightful post-screening discussion.

Be sure to arrive at the screening a few minutes early and order optional food items, courtesy of Riggatti's. Ordered items will arrive just in time for the post-screening discussion. What's on the menu? Well, you'll have a few items to choose from, one of which was specially created for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
